About
Legends of the Black Moon is a Role Playing game, in which the gamer assumes the mantle of his / her character, guiding it through a series of scenario’s and game dictated tasks that arise through the course of the game play.
This is my Final Year, B.E. (I.T.) Project, required for completing my course. My group consists of :
1. Mandar Rane
2. Sailesh Kapoor
3. Richa Arora
4. Carlyle Oliver ( yep ! that’s me )
Overview - The game would be of the RPG genre, and feature 2-4 central gamer controlled characters. The gamer will be able to select one of which and take control of it through the course of the game – this would involve:
* Completion of the scenario
* Perform additional tasks
* Upgrade ones character
Game play would consist of the above, controls would be bound to a keyboard configuration, menu navigation would be via keyboard / mouse input.
Movement of the players character on screen would be keyboard / mouse based, with a provision for shortcut keys at a later stage. The central idea of the game would be a compelling storyline that will see the player to encounter CPU-controlled characters and interact with them, interact with game objects and accomplish specified tasks. Each character will possess unique abilities and will use these to complete the game objectives and also be able to add additional capabilities and advance their character throughout the game – through level ups, pickups etc.
Characters would have abilities like – Force Fields, Death Rays, Weapon wielding etc…
Characters possess 2 properties – HP (Health) and SP (Skill Points)
The completion of the game rests with the gamer, wherein, he / she would have to successfully negotiate all levels and complete the final task.
The game will be coded in C#, the fully object oriented language developed by Microsoft. Game mechanics and structure will be based on a technology know as XNA, that provides a managed environment and framework provided by Microsoft as a toolset, it is largely based on the .Net framework for the XBOX and Windows system, with a rich set of class libraries and runs on the CLR (Common Language Runtime). Visual Studio will largely be used as the IDE to code the game, with the XNA toolset. Graphical aspects and sprite sheets will be created by other applications such a Adobe Photoshop etc. Audio and video files for enhanced game experience will be created also, by various other tools (XACT, Audacity, Adobe Premiere and Virtual Dub) and sources, as appropriate.
